The Groton Area School District extends into five counties and includes nearly 600 students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12. It has been identified as a “Distinguished District” on the 2010 NCLB Report Card. To achieve this top rating, the school must meet several high standards, met only by four other school districts in the state of South Dakota. The usual class offerings exist along with three vocational education courses and six college prep classes. Co-curricular activities include a wide range of athletic offerings as well as many excellent fine arts programs. Three of the most recent additions to the school system include Response to Intervention (RtI), extra instruction based upon individual student needs in reading; Junior Kindergarten; and GRASP, an after school program for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5. Bear Facts Nursery School and St. John’s Lutheran pre-school offer two options for pre-school education for children ages 3-5. Click for More Info
